Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT La Soula Jewelry!

Four questions with Kimberly DeTomasis, founder of La Soula Jewelry.

Why did you start your business?

I started my business 12 years ago, after my son had passed away. I built a jewelry line inspired by his Light, Life, and Love that will forever burn bright. It's my way of keeping his energy and soul alive.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Our best selling products are our littles collection and the 100% customer service we provide to our boutiques and customers nationwide.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

- Bungalow in Westport CT
- Millie Raes Westport CT
- Paper and Stitch Greenwich CT
- Back 40 Mercantile Greenwich CT

To name a few. We sell to boutiques all over the country.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

I've reimagined my small business to expand into other products or artists to join my umbrella.

Kimberly would like to nominate Vanessa and her awesome business - Penfield Collective to be featured next!
