Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT JDog Junk Removal & Hauling!

Four questions with Sean-Michael Green, owner of JDog Junk Removal & Hauling.

Why did you start your business?

As a Marine Corps veteran, I saw this business as a way to serve other veterans in the community. We create space and remove unwanted items from veterans and civilians alike, but we hire veterans and their family members to work with us, and the items we pick up we repurpose and try to donate to veteran nonprofits.

What is your best-selling product/service?

The service that is the most well-received is the removal of once treasured items that no longer serve a purpose. Our team operates with respect, integrity, and trust to remove those items and put them in the hands of new owners. All parties get what they need!

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We work with local real estate companies, realtors, storage facilities, and funeral directors. These are the people in our community most likely to encounter people in need of the help we provide. We are grateful for these partnerships, and it drives us to deliver the best possible service so we make our partners proud.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Our business has no storefront. We are flexible and mobile to reach people when and where they need us.

Sean-Michael would like to nominate Fowler & Company to be featured next - "Nothing is more local than real estate, and this agency has been especially kind to me and the veterans with whom I work."
