So, Ya Wanna Be a Broadway Star?!

The New Paradigm Theatre will host its signature event, “So Ya Wanna Be A Broadway Star? - 2015”, a mentoring and audition opportunity, Saturday, October 24th, from 10am-2pm, at The Fairfield Theatre Company.

Fairfield, CT - Singers from age 8 through adult (Three divisions: 8-12 years, 13-17 years and 18 to adult) will audition and receive feedback in front of Broadway casting directors and producers for the chance to be featured in upcoming New Paradigm Theatre (NPT) productions with Broadway, film and TV stars and to win a $250 prize and other industry and networking related prizes. PRE-registration is required.

Previous winner Cidalia Alves was also featured in TV appearances following the competition saying, “The chance to sing in front of Broadway decision makers and to network with them was invaluable.” Short video of the event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-FKGpoFj7g

Kristin Huffman, Producing Artistic Director NPT, Broadway Performer and professor at the University of Hartford, will also lead a panel discussion with TV and Film pro Scott Bryce and the audience may ask insider questions about the industry. “Mentoring is a large component of NPT’s mission statement. Even if a performer does not win, we often feature the stand-out performers we meet at this event in our shows.  More importantly, our Youth Board of directors is also very involved in learning ‘Leadership through the arts’ and is comprised of teens from Milford to Greenwich who help with this event and in fundraising and performing for other nonprofits and senior homes," said Huffman.

Networking is crucial in the Entertainment industry and the singers who compete meet and receive feedback this year from: Jamibeth Marolis (NY Casting Dir: Les Miz, Phantom, Cats); Meredith Lynsey Schade (Broadway Producer: Spring Awakening revival, Bridges of Madison County); Paul Bogaev (Music Producer Movies- Dreamgirls, Chicago and Across the Universe); Jeremy Sickels (NY agency: Daniel Hoff Agency); and John Reid (Exec Dir of Fairfield Theatre Co).

NPT’s big incentive is that the three people chosen as winners will get a chance to be featured in the Holiday show at The Fairfield Theatre company as well as other shows throughout the year. Last year, students from Greenwich to Hartford competed in this popular audition event.

Please PRE-register by Sept 24th to get a reduced application fee and complimentary group audition master class with Kristin Huffman - Broadway performer and Producing Artistic Director - to prepare your audition.

Registrations after Sept 24th will be processed at regular rate.
