Four questions with Deborah Blanchard, founder of Deborah Blanchard and Associates.
Why did you start your business?
I think in my heart I knew I would always have a business that involved numbers. As a young teen growing up in Fairfield I kept score and stats for Fairfield Lumber a Junior Babe Ruth baseball team here in town. It was so exciting when they passed the hat around and paid me to do something I loved. Naturally, an accounting firm was the way to go and Deborah Blanchard and Associates LLC was born (after a few name changes along the way). I have it all - a career I love while working in my hometown.
What is your best-selling product/service?
So many to choose from but I would say that my best services are personal and small business tax returns and helping families and small businesses learn how to grow by budgeting their expenses.
Over the years I have hired local Fairfield people to help with my business which I love to do as it keeps it all within the community.
Have you "reimagined" your small business?
During Covid the only reimagine I did was to help my clients and people I didn’t know who called for advice. I tried to do my part to help and pay it forward by giving discounts to seniors, free returns when I could, and lots of advice on navigating the stimulus funds, offering PPP loan help, and refinancing documents so families could lower their monthly expenses.
