Fairfield Receives Top Award from the CT Economic Development Assn

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS) is pleased to recognize the Town of Fairfield as a member of the CEDAS Best Practices Cohort for 2023 as a Gold Certified Community.

A panel of reviewers studied Fairfield’s policies, plans and partnerships to identify the Town’s successful implementation of efficient and effective land use planning and economic development strategies.

First Selectwoman Kupchick said, “This recognition is a tribute to the hard work of our Community & Economic Development Department and our work to make Fairfield more attractive to residents and businesses alike. CEDAS recognized the Town employee pledge my administration implemented, and our interdepartmental communications. I want to thank our CED Director Mark Barnhart for working side by side with my team to support businesses who are seeking approvals from the Town and providing guidance throughout the process. It’s really nice to be recognized for the many new policies and procedures we have put into place.”

CEDAS recognized Fairfield for “good governance and organizational effectiveness principles, which facilitate accountable and effective planning and development practices.”

Community & Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart added, “We constantly strive to make improvements to better serve the business community and public at large.

We are very appreciative of this statewide recognition for the work that we are already doing, and wish to congratulate our fellow awardees.”

The CEDAS Best Practices Program was developed to spur communities to pursue excellence in land use and economic development practices and to recognize those communities within the State that have achieved this high standard.

The Town of Fairfield underwent a rigorous application and peer review process that required documentation of its procedures and adherence to industry best practices. The Town was able to showcase the policies that it uses to support local businesses, target strategic business growth, and implement planning and zoning practices that thoughtfully plan for future population and community-specific needs.
