The Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at 5:00 p.m., in the 2nd Floor Conference Room in Old Town Hall, 611 Old Post Road, Fairfield. Program Year 45 begins October 1, 2019 and ends September 30, 2020.
The Town of Fairfield has not received notice to date of its CDBG allocation for the upcoming Program Year 45. Community and Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart said, “Given current fiscal realities and the trend that we have witnessed in the last few years, we do not anticipate an increase in our present entitlement grant of $508,143. Our office intends to use the current year grant as the baseline for planning purposes from which we will make adjustments as additional information becomes available.”
The Community and Economic Development Department seeks citizens’ input as to the types of projects and activities it should include within its Action Plan for Program Year 45 that will meet the Town's identified housing and priority non-housing community development needs.
The Town formally solicits project proposals once a year in conjunction with its CDBG planning and budgeting process. To be considered for CDBG funding, projects must be eligible to receive assistance under federal guidelines and meet one of three broad national objectives (1) benefit persons or areas of low/moderate income, (2) eliminate conditions of slums and/or blight, or (3) meet an urgent need within the community.
