Fairfield, CT - Know Your Reps ( www.KnowYourReps.org ) is a new, non-partisan website that provides Fairfield voters with information about every candidate running in the local elections this November, as well as a basic primer on how our town government works. The idea was conceived two years ago by two Fairfield residents who realized during the 2017 elections that it was almost impossible to find comprehensive information about the candidates running for local office. “The Republican and Democratic town committees published information about most of their own candidates, but it was hard to compare candidates across parties because the information was on different sites and in different formats,” explain the site’s creators. “A few candidates also ‘self- published’ profiles on social media, but these were few and far between. This made it very challenging for even the motivated, engaged voter to make informed choices, much less the average busy Fairfield citizen!”
Know Your Reps includes profiles on each of the 113 candidates running for 68 open offices this election day (November 5). The project has also enlisted the help high school volunteers, who are filming short videos of the candidates and helping get the word out to the public about this new resource. “Our motto is simple: “Become a better informed voter, and build a better Fairfield.” Visit knowyourreps.org.
