Fairfield, CT LWV Candidates Debates Set to Broadcast Oct. 26

Fairfield, CT - On Monday, October 26, 7:00 PM, FAIRTV will broadcast the League of Women Voters of Fairfield annual Candidates Debates, featuring Fairfield candidates for state legislative office. Due to coronavirus concerns and state regulations, the event will be filmed on October 23 without an audience, and then presented on October 26 on all FairTV Platforms:

State Senate candidates will go first. State Representative candidates will follow in pairs by district.

Kay Maxwell, former President of the national LWV and former Executive Director of the World Affairs Forum, will be the moderator.

“This has been a challenging year, to say the least, for organizing this popular event,” said Margaret Mary Fitzgerald, co-president of the Fairfield LWV. “The League is grateful to the Fairfield Museum and History Center for partnering with us in this venture, and to the candidates for their patience.”

The public is invited to send questions for the candidates in advance of the event, but no later than October 22. Questions should be sent to lwvfairfield@lwvct.org.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. “We encourage all Fairfield citizens to either vote by absentee ballot or in person at the polls,” said Bryce Perry, Fairfield LWV co-president. “It is their right and their responsibility.”

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan, political organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The organization’s 2020 Voters Guide, featuring questions and answers by candidates, is now available online at lwvfairfield.org.
