Fairfield LWV Creates New Info Series

Fairfield, CT - The Fairfield League of Women Voters presents Did You Know: Voting Rights and Wrongs, a new free, multi-part series on voting rights in CT, across the states, and at the National level.

The series starts with “Did You Know: Voting Rights and Wrongs – in Connecticut” on Thursday, April 28, 6:30 PM at Fairfield University’s College of Arts and Sciences Media Center, 1073 North Benson Rd, Fairfield, CT.  The focus will be on how the independent, nonpartisan counting of votes and certification of election results works in Connecticut and a review of Connecticut legislation introduced over the last several years affecting the voting process.

The program will include: 

  • How the Counting of Votes and Certification of Results Works in CT 
  • No-Excuse Absentee Voting Question on the November Ballot 
  • Redistricting Developments to Date
  • Review of Legislation Affecting Voting Rights 
  • Transparency and Public Participation

Patricia Rossi, Advocacy and Public Issues Vice President, League of Women Voters of Connecticut

Jonathan Perloe, leader, Voter Choice Connecticut 

 “Voting Rights and Wrongs across the States” will be the focus of the second in the series, a virtual session moderated by David Daley, author of the national best-seller "Unrigged: How Americans Are Battling Back to Save Democracy.” The program will feature a panel of experts on voting rights and types of voter negation in several key states.

Session three —“Voting Rights and Wrongs at the Federal Level”—will look at an analysis of how Federal legislation can encourage expansion of voting rights, enforce legitimate polling practices, and establish consistent voting rules and regulations.
