FAIRFIELD, CT – State Representative candidate Brian Farnen, a Republican running in the 132nd district, has received the endorsement of the Connecticut State Fraternal Order of Police.
The Fraternal Order of Police is the nation's largest law enforcement organization, with over 325,000 members throughout the United States.
"I'm very proud to receive this endorsement from the men and women who protect us and I am looking forward to working in earnest to end the divisiveness that is happening across the country with police and members of the public, “ said Farnen. “It’s very clear that we have a public safety issue here in the state of Connecticut and we must come together to solve problems effectively.”
While previously serving as State Representative, Farnen advocated for stronger police-communities ties and voted against the harmful “Police Accountability” bill in 2020. Fairfield continues to see a crime wave including an on-going rash of cars being stolen and robberies. Also, on Saturday, July 10, a teen was shot and killed at a party in Fairfield at a banquet hall and in June, another shooting took place at the WaFu restaurant in Southport.
In a statement, Connecticut State Fraternal Order of Police President Det. Sgt. John Krupinsky said, “It is with great honor that the Connecticut State Fraternal Order of Police announces that it has endorsed you for this upcoming election. There is no doubt that you will put the best interests of Law Enforcement and your constituents first. Connecticut Law Enforcement has suffered the last year with the police accountability bill. I believe you are the best candidate to move the safety and security of this state forward.”
“The contrast between myself and my opponent this fall could not be any clearer. Our current State Representative Jennifer Leeper voted against protections for police officers, like qualified immunity, she sought out and earned the endorsement of the Working Family Party, a party that includes “Defund the Police” initiatives in their platform and publicly stated she believes there is not an increase in crime in Fairfield,” said Farnen.
