Hartford, CT - State Senator Tony Hwang (R-28th District) applauded the Connecticut State Bond Commission's approval of funding for road, pedestrian and bike safety improvements in Fairfield and renovations at Sherwood Island State Park. The Commission approved funding during its July 29 meeting.
The funding includes:
• $750,000 for Sherwood Island State Park for the renovation of a storage facility and a new equipment storage building
• $1.75 million for Route 130 safety improvements in Fairfield
• $2 million for improvements at the Churchill Road intersection in Fairfield
“Sherwood Island State Park is a region-wide environmental and recreational gem, and it is prudent for the state to invest in its priceless natural infrastructure and maintenance,” Sen. Hwang said. “The improvements on Route 130 at Kings Highway Cutoff circle will help ease congestion and boost safety for businesses. The Church Hill Road and Wilson Road intersection improvements will make these roads safer for pedestrians, bikes and traffic in the Stratfield neighborhood. These necessary and practical infrastructure investments are supported on a bipartisan basis, their completion will pay future dividends over many years, and I appreciate the governor heeding our delegation by focusing on impactful traffic safety and environmental projects in our communities.”
