Fairfield CV-19 Relief Fund Receives Challenge Grant to Aid in Local Recovery

Fairfield, CT - First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick announced today that the Levinson Family has made a $5,000 challenge grant commitment to the Fairfield COVID-19 Relief Fund to help augment local resources to assist those in need.

The Levinson Family has offered to match every dollar raised up to $5,000 to the Fairfield COVID-19 Relief Fund. First Selectwoman Kupchick said, “On behalf of our neighbors who are struggling to make ends meet because of this global pandemic, we are deeply grateful to the Levinson Family for their generous support.”

The Town of Fairfield worked with Operation Hope to establish earlier this month a local relief fund to help Fairfield residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund provides limited, one-time assistance to Fairfield residents who have lost a job, incurred extraordinary expenses or have otherwise been adversely impacted by the global health crisis. The Fund is accepting charitable gifts, and thus far has raised over $50,000 from more than 170 donors, not including this latest gift.

Any individual or organization wishing to make a financial contribution may do so in the following ways:

 By check: Make checks payable to Fairfield COVID-19 Relief Fund. Donations can be mailed to the Town of Fairfield Social Services Department, 100 Mona Terrace, Fairfield, CT, 06824;

 Pay online by credit card: Go online to https://www.fairfieldct.org/covidrelieffund and click on the donate link.

Contributions to this fund are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law for all 501(c)3 charitable organizations. Contribution acknowledgement letters will be provided for IRS purposes.

Fairfield residents who need financial assistance due to the pandemic are encouraged to visit the website to download an application at https://www.fairfieldct.org/covidrelieffund or call 203-256-2891. A committee of concerned citizens and representatives from the Town of Fairfield has begun to meet and review applications for financial assistance, with initial disbursements expected in the next few weeks. To date, the Town has received nearly three dozen applications for assistance.

First Selectwoman Kupchick said, “This has been a difficult time for many within our community who are facing uncertainties. We are so grateful to the Levinson family and many others like them that have stepped forward and offered their support to their Fairfield neighbors in need. I am very proud of the way our Town has come together.”

Director of Human Services Julie DeMarco, said, “Unfortunately, there are many people that are struggling. We know it’s been a difficult and frustrating experience for many, and we’re here to provide whatever assistance we can.”
