Let's #MentionPrevention Campaign Launched

Fairfield, CT - April is Alcohol Awareness Month. FairfieldCARES is excited to share with you that the Let's #MentionPrevention Campaign has been launched statewide! Let's #MentionPrevention is a grassroots substance use prevention, education and awareness campaign with the mission of strengthening Connecticut communities through the power of communication. This campaign was created by local coalitions to address the timely substance use-related issues that their communities face. Presently, the focus of the campaign is to address the health risks associated with alcohol use, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The alcohol and COVID-19 aspect of the Let's #MentionPrevention campaign is largely informed by a report conducted by The DMHAS Center for Prevention Evaluation and Statistics (CPES) at UConn Health. In this effort, focus groups were conducted with teenagers and parents from local communities within Connecticut, including Fairfield, in order to gauge substance use and mental health concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic.Go to DrugfreeCT.org for more info, to order materials and to download a digital toolkit. Check out the PSA video on FC's  FacebookInstagram and Twitter feeds, and be sure to follow FairfieldCARES for posts throughout April in observance of Alcohol Awareness Month.
