FAIRFIELD, CT – The Fairfield Health Department is urging all residents to receive the flu vaccine this year. The single best way to protect yourself and those around you from the flu is to get vaccinated. It is recommended that everyone over the age of 6 months receive the flu vaccine every year. It takes about 2 weeks after the receiving the flu vaccine for the body to develop protection against the flu virus so now is a good time to get vaccinated.
The Health Department will host two flu clinics this season for adults and children age 5 and older. These clinics will be held on:
- Thursday, October 7th from 10am-7pm
- Friday, October 8th from 10am-5pm
Both clinics will take place at the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities in the Gymnasium (100 Mona Terrace, Fairfield).
The flu vaccine will be available in injection form for people 5 years and older. The Pneumonia vaccine, Pneumovax 23, will also be available at these clinics.
Medicare Part B, Connecticare, Aetna, Cigna, Anthem, United HealthCare, and Oxford are all accepted and there is no co pay. Out of pocket price for the Flu vaccine is $30, the High Dose vaccine is $65 and the Pneumonia vaccine is $65. This is a CASHLESS clinic, credit cards and checks will be accepted.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all individuals are required to wear a face covering regardless of vaccination status.
