Two Omicron Cases in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CT – The Fairfield Health Department was notified that two COVID-19 cases in Town are the Omicron variant. Several additional cases in CT have also been identified.

Both Fairfield cases have been interviewed by the Health Department’s contact tracing team and they have been advised to isolate. Their close contacts have been notified of their exposure.

The cases reported mild symptoms not requiring hospitalization. The Department has been in contact with the CT Department of Public Health and at this time, no additional action is required. “As we go through this holiday season when there is a high level of COVID-19 activity in town, it is very important that everyone in our community take steps to reduce the risk of getting and spreading COVID-19,” said First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick.

Fairfield’s Director of Health Sands Cleary said, “Vaccination is the single most important measure to protect against COVID and variants. 77% of those currently hospitalized are unvaccinated and 78% of Fairfield residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine. It is also important to get your booster shot if eligible.”

Booster shots are available this weekend at the Trumbull Mall.  For more information on booster shot locations please click here

In addition to vaccination you can also monitor yourself daily for COVID-19 like symptoms and get tested when necessary, wear a mask when around crowds in public, and limit optional social gatherings.
