AG, DCP Urge Consumers to Use Payless Gift Cards Before Stores Close
After 62 years, all Payless Stores are closing. Payless currently has liquidation sales in all stores.

Despite our best efforts to address the rapidly changing retail environment, we have made the difficult decision to close our stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico and have wound down our e-commerce site.

Attorney General William Tong and Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull today advised Connecticut consumers who may have unused gift cards to Payless ShoeSource to use those credits before the discount shoe chain is slated to close its U.S. stores.
Retail outlet accepting gift cards until March 11.
"With Payless ShoeSource slated to shutter its doors, time is running out to use the retailer's gift cards and to make final returns. Consumers should act quickly and get their money's worth. While gift cards do not expire in Connecticut, sudden store closings and bankruptcies may prevent consumers from using gift cards," said Attorney General Tong.
“When companies close, the time consumers have to use gift cards can be unpredictable,” said Commissioner Seagull. “Consumers now only have a few weeks to use their gift cards at Payless ShoeSource, and we encourage consumers to visit a store to use those gift cards sooner rather than later. It’s also a great time to use any other gift cards in their possession. We always want consumers to use their gift cards as soon as they are able, because we never know what might happen with a business.”
