Sound Shore & Strickland Road Notice of Construction - July 14

The Department of Public Works recently released the following notice regarding new construction projects about to be underway in Greenwich, and the road impacts:

"The Department of Public Works will begin construction of new curbs, sidewalks, pedestrian ramps and drainage facilities along Sound Shore Drive and Strickland Road in the vicinity of the Cos Cob Train Station beginning Monday, July 14, 2014. The project involves constructing new sidewalks along Sound Shore Drive and Strickland Road to provide continuous pedestrian routes to the proposed Cos Cob Park.

Presently, there are portions of the aforementioned roadways which lack sidewalks and create unsafe conditions for pedestrians. Construction activities will occur during normal business hours and the project will be completed by October 1, 2014. During this time daily lane closures will occur and temporary traffic control devices will be installed to protect motorists and pedestrians. Additionally, parking lots/spaces may be closed for a limited time due to the impacts of the project.
