Gifts of Love Celebrates 35 Years with Roaring 20’s Fall Fundraiser on Oct. 25

Many people love to pay tribute to the good ol’ days, and now, one Connecticut non-profit organization is offering a chance at nostalgia with a 1920 and 30’s-themed fundraiser. Specifically, Gifts of Love, which provides food, clothing and household items to Connecticut individuals and families facing a financial crisis in over 40 separate towns, is hosting its 2nd Annual Fall Fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 from 6:30 to 10:30 pm, at the Farmington Gardens banquet hall, located at 999 Farmington Avenue in Farmington, Conn. This year’s event is billed, “Club 35” to commemorate the charity’s 35th anniversary in assisting local residents with vital, basic needs.

“We are thrilled to have our big fall fundraising event pay tribute to the roaring 20’s and 30’s, said Lisa Gray, Executive Director of Gifts of Love. “This is going to be an extra memorable event as all attendees are invited to dress in era-appropriate apparel and enjoy a variety of engaging activities and entertainment that appeal to everyone who wants to support their neighbors in need.”

Gifts of Love services over 40 towns across Connecticut by offering a fully-stocked grocery pantry consisting of non-perishable items, paper goods, personal hygiene items, meats, and fresh produce and dairy products, a housewares and small appliances pantry and a clothing boutique, where clients can come and shop once a month. The organization has two locations- in Avon and in Hartford- to make it easy for those in need to access necessary goods and services. It is also on the front lines of fighting childhood hunger with its Weekend Food Backpack Program, during which it distributes backpacks stuffed with easy-to-prepare meals and drinks to more than 300 students who are receiving free or reduced-cost lunches throughout the school year.

Gray notes that attendees of the “Club 35” event will enjoy dinner, cocktails, beer, wine, a live auction, a wine pull, and a variety of entertainment options.

Individual tickets are $125 and a table of 10 costs $1,250. Both can be purchased in advance at www.giftsoflovect.org.

“Now more than ever, we rely upon the generosity and compassion of Connecticut residents to help us reach our $57,000 fundraising goal,” added Gray.
