Bonded By Blue: Charity Bracelet 100% Supports Bristol Police Heroes Fund

The unimaginable loss of two Bristol Connecticut Police Officers has devastated the entire community and hits home for every spouse of an officer. As the wife of an East Hartford police officer whose family owns Baribault Jewelers, Christina Baribault Ortiz is channeling her grief into a fundraiser for THE BRISTOL POLICE HEROES FUND. The fund will receive 100% of the proceeds from every purchase of the limited edition “Thin Blue Line” bracelet featuring a blue cord.
The statement on the company’s website reads “On October 12, 2022, the City of Bristol faced the terrible loss of two fallen officers and another officer who sustained serious injuries while responding to a call. The Bristol Police Commissioners have partnered with the Bristol Police Union to create the Bristol Police Heroes Fund which will be used to aid and assist families of officers in times of tragedy. Join us in bringing Fearless, Fierce, Limitless, Badass and Strong supportive energy to this cause with the purchase of a bracelet."
“Everyone’s heart is broken for the wives and children of Sgt. Dustin Demonte and Officer Alex Hamzy,” said Baribault Ortiz. “It is a gut-wrenching reminder that it could happen to any one of our families any time an officer puts on their uniform. I actually wear my “fearless” bracelet every day to try to fear a little less.”
Baribault Ortiz and her sister Raeann Baribault Schwartz created The Power to B bracelets four years ago to encourage everyone to B Strong, B Fierce, B Badass, B Limitless, B Fearless, or B You by linking the cursive phrases with a colorful cord. The commemorative “Thin Blue Line” design features a power word in yellow gold on a blue cord in order to give strength to the wearer while showing support for the men and women in blue. The bracelet will be available for purchase for $68 on the Baribault Jewelers' website: https://baribaultjewelers.com/product/blue-power-word-cord-bracelet/.
The pair is committed to philanthropy and has created custom designs to benefit various charities. Most recently, 100% of the proceeds from the maroon Robb School Memorial Fund bracelet went directly to the families devastated by the Uvalde, TX shooting. Previous bracelet designs have supported The Hope of Fertility Foundation, the Glastonbury Education Foundation and the UCONN Foundation.
The third-generation jewelers created the bracelets featuring powerful phrases to remind women of all ages that they are not alone. The jewelry line has forged a strong community of thousands of female customers who wear the bracelets, rings, necklaces to bolster their inner strength and resilience.
“When we feel helpless individually there is power in taking action with a collective show of support,” said Baribault Schwartz. “We can’t take the pain away, but we hope to make just a small difference by comforting the families.”
