CT Landmarks Hosts “You Got This” Workshop Series

Do you have a character you want to bring to life, be it original or historical? Are you an organization looking to have your employees or docents breathe life into a historical person related to your unique history? Are you a frustrated public speaker who is in need of help?  Don't worry - “YOU GOT THIS!” Join Tammy Denease of Historical Firsts in East Hartford for a three-part workshop at the Amos Bull House in Hartford.

The series will begin on Saturday, October 13th with Bringing a Character to Life. Accomplished actor, storyteller, playwright and entrepreneur Tammy Denease will facilitate a workshop to help you create, develop or hone your historical persona or presentation skills. This workshop will help you polish your presentations, so PLEASE, bring along any piece you would like to make SHINE!

The series will continue on Wednesday, November 7th with Speech Making. Do you have a speech that is in need of fine tuning or that is missing the “WOW” factor? No worries! Let Tammy Denease show you your next move to polish your presentation! The “You Got This!” series will conclude on Tuesday, November 13th with Thinking on Your Toes - learn how Improv practices can help you think and act on the spot!

 

Cost is $100 per person per workshop, or $275 for the series and includes lunch by the Curbside Chef’s food truck following the workshop. In her series "Hidden Women," Tammy Denease of Historical Firsts in East Hartford, introduces us to the world of fascinating women who have been hidden throughout history. The inspirational women that Tammy Denease portrays are an integral part of American History! Among her favorites are Bessie Coleman (first internationally licensed pilot in the world) & Elizabeth Keckly (former enslaved woman who worked at Lincoln's White House), Margu (Amistad captive) & Elizabeth "Mumbet" Freeman - one minute a free woman. In her oral tradition presentations Denease engages her audience through folk tales that teach life lessons and hands on activities that leave her audience educated as well as eager to learn more. She performs in several different forums including inter-district school assemblies.
