Elderly Client Review Garners Home Caregiver $5,000 Platinum Award

Felicia Nkrumah of East Hartford Earns Monthly Recognition from Assisted Living Services, Inc. for Compassionate Care

An in-home caregiver for an older adult often becomes part of the family. Since May 2020, Felicia Nkrumah of East Hartford, has been caring for Geraldine Indoe of Plantsville, Conn at home. Now Geraldine and her husband Fred describe Felicia as an “adopted” family member. The couple’s praise of Felicia as a “very dedicated, extremely patient and compassionate” caregiver earned the Personal Care Assistant the monthly Platinum Caregiver Award from Assisted Living Services, Inc. in Cheshire. The homecare agency’s team surprised Felicia with the prestigious honor at the Indoe’s home on October 5, 2021. In addition to a check for $5,000, the monthly award includes a beautiful crystal statue and a certificate of merit.

“It’s an adjustment to have someone come into your home every day, particularly when only one spouse needs care, so we take the time to carefully match the caregiver who is best suited to support each client,” Mario D’Aquila, MBA and Chief Operating Officer of ALS. “When it’s a good fit from the beginning, the family and caregiver can build a very special relationship.”

As an ALS Personal Care Assistant, Felicia helps Geraldine with the activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, and grooming. The caregiver can also perform light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, laundry, washing floors, meal preparation & grocery shopping and transportation & escorting to doctor appointments, social engagements, shopping, etc.

“We commend Felicia’s dedication to ensuring her client can remain living happily at home with her husband by taking on the responsibilities of caregiving,” said D’Aquila. “We also encourage anyone who enjoys caring for others and working with seniors to contact us as we are actively hiring homemakers and PCA’s across the state.”

D’Aquila notes there is no limit to the number of times an employee can win the lucrative bonus, as the monthly award program was created to demonstrate the company’s genuine appreciation for each and every staff member. Homecare Pulse, a third-party survey company that measures customer satisfaction, contacts ALS clients at random to rate the services and quality of care that is being provided. Clients and families can acknowledge caregivers who went “above and beyond” when caring for them or their loved one. The caregiver with the highest quality score earns the prestigious and well-deserved recognition for their outstanding work.
