New Business Alliance Expands Tech Safety Options for Seniors

Aging in place is an attractive option for many older adults thanks to advances in technology like assistive devices, mobile apps, and medical alert systems. That’s why Assisted Living Technologies, Inc. (ALT), a family business that provides high-tech solutions to the senior market in Conn., and My Guardian Angel (MGA), a medical alert device provider in Western, Mass., today announced a professional partnership that will expand their wide array of first-class senior technology services to a greater number of elderly residents to keep them safe and independent, even as their health needs change.

“The coronavirus pandemic is a perfect example of how quickly seniors can adjust to the ever-evolving tech landscape as many have used FaceTime, hosted meetings on Zoom, and hopped on telemedicine calls with physicians to stay connected,” said Nick D’Aquila, Vice President at ALT. “By combining our product lines, we’re excited to become a universal resource for this growing population, while helping to expand My Guardian Angel’s presence in the Northeast.”

Currently MGA has contracts with numerous State agencies, LifePath, a community non-profit organization devoted to senior health and safety, as well as many private, independent clients. By partnering with ALT, MGA will now be able to offer an enhanced product line of senior home care devices and installation services seamlessly with ALT handling the ordering process and back-end administration.

“Besides the existing compatibility between our product lines, there is a perfect synergy between our company values and mission,” said Jill Venier, interim CEO of My Guardian Angel. “We’ve been a locally owned and operated company since 2009 and we’re proud that our outreach and medical alerts services to Western Massachusetts are strengthened by partnering with Assisted Living Technologies.”

The comprehensive product and service line offered by ALT and MGA includes:

  •          Fall Prevention Detectors – When seconds count, the care received in the first hour after a fall reduces the risk of hospitalization by 26% and death by 80%. The Walabot HOME is requires no wearable device and no emergency button to push as it is mounted on a wall.
  •          Wander Prevention Mobile GPS System – A portable system that can detect falls and activate emergency alerts even if client is unable to speak.
  •          Home and Fire Safety Devices – ALT and MGA keep seniors safe in one of the most dangerous rooms of their home- the kitchen with CookStop™ that shuts the stove off after a certain period of inactivity and Fire Avert that automatically disconnects power to one’s range or stove when fire or smoke are detected.
  •          Remote Monitoring – from video doorbells and camera-infused flood lights to motion, door and window sensors, there are many devices to keep potential intruders far away.
  •          Medication Dispensers - Automated pill management systems can be customized according to daily, weekly and monthly allotments, with alarm reminder systems to ensure that seniors get the right dose of medications at the right time.
  •          Fall and Wander Prevention Systems- Bed pads, chair pads, door sensors and a pager alarm help keep caregivers aware of their elderly loved one’s every move.

“It’s been our life’s work to provide only the highest caliber of care to Connecticut’s aging residents and we look forward to bringing our expertise to the elderly in Massachusetts,” said D’Aquila.

ALT continues to seek partnerships with other top-rated senior care companies in Florida, Rhode Island, New York and the metro Boston area.
