Hands-On Help to Fly Drones in Hartford

With mask mandates being lifted and workers returning to the office, Connecticut residents are eager to network and find new professional purpose this spring season. Aquiline Drones (AD), a full-service drone solutions company in Hartford, is encouraging them to consider a rewarding career as a commercial drone pilot by offering its Flight-to-the-Future online training curriculum in person, complete with the guidance of an instructor. Sessions will be offered at the company’s downtown Hartford headquarters on the 14th floor of the historic Stark Building located at 750 Main Street, starting on Monday, April 11, 2022.

"When we originally launched Flight-to-the-Future two years ago online, the pandemic had just begun. As such, this program provided a way to teach new high-tech skills in a burgeoning industry to the thousands of unemployed and displaced workers,” said Barry Alexander, Founder and CEO of Aquiline Drones. “Since then, more than 2,000 individuals, including first responders such as police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel, as well as college students from across the country, are successfully moving through our online program. With the relaxing of pandemic-related restrictions, however, we are now pleased to offer an in-person version of the comprehensive course to ensure that a greater number of people are trained and have the opportunity to find meaningful work as a commercial drone operator.”

Specifically, the on-site Flight-to-the-Future course takes a more hands-on approach in teaching students how to utilize drone and cloud technology safely and effectively in 2 steps:

  •          Drone Operations and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) Aeronautical Procedures - This is an introduction to drones, that prepares students for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Drone Pilot (Part 107) certification exam.
  •          Cloud Connected Drone Operations, Computing and Analytics – This focuses on digital technologies including artificial intelligence that enhance cloud-connected commercial drone operations, including safety, and facilitate the provision of critical business intelligence to customers.

Alexander notes that people learn in different ways and the new in-person version of the program is designed for those who prefer the in-class instructional environment, instead of the online, remote experience.

Sessions will be offered at two convenient times from 9 a.m. to noon, as well as 6 to 9 p.m. and run for a two-week cycle. The cost is $399 per person.

Interested parties may register by sending an email to: training@AquilineDrones.com. For a detailed summary of the curriculum, please visit: https://www.flighttothefuture.com/

Upon course completion, students may then decide to register for individual flight training using a variety of commercial drone models for hands-on experience.

“The number of commercial drone applications continues to increase exponentially as they are being used to fulfill everyday services such as asset inspection, videography, smart farming and land surveying and mapping. There is something for everyone in this red-hot industry,” adds Alexander.
