Assisted Living Services Hits Trifecta of National Industry Awards

Assisted Living Services, Inc. in Connecticut has once again earned national recognition from Home Care Pulse, the leading firm in quality assurance for home care. The family-owned company received three distinguished 2023 Best of Home Care awards; Leader in Excellence, Employer of Choice and Provider of Choice. The Leader in Excellence Award is the highest distinction and is bestowed only to select home care businesses that consistently place among the top in 10 or more quality metrics. This ranks ALS among the top 15% of home care providers nationwide participating in the Home Care Pulse Satisfaction Management Program. This is the 3rd time the family-owned agency with offices in Cheshire and Westport has received the awards.

“It is an incredible honor to be selected for all three categories and one of only a handful of winners in our state,” says Ron D’Aquila, RN and CEO of Assisted Living Services, Inc., who is also the co-owner with his wife Sharon D’Aquila. Sons Mario and Nick D’Aquila hold executive positions within the company. “Our clients want to live in the comfort of their homes. We are committed not only to making that possible, but also to ensuring that their golden years are truly golden.”

This accomplishment demonstrates Assisted Living Service’s long-term dedication to excellent care and quality improvement. To qualify for this award, 10% of the agency’s clients and caregivers were interviewed each month by Home Care Pulse. Over a 12-month period, the company received high client and caregiver satisfaction ratings in areas such as caregiver training, compassion of caregivers, communication, scheduling, client/caregiver compatibility, and more. Using feedback from clients and employees, as well as quality benchmarks from Home Care Pulse, the Assisted Living Services management team set goals to reach the highest level of excellence possible.

Assisted Living Services leads the industry as the first and only agency in CT to develop a program called CarePlus, which blends care with innovative technology from sister company Assisted Living Technologies, Inc. CarePlus can enhance care and reduce costs to the client thereby extending their ability to remain at home.

Additionally, Assisted Living Services is a trusted partner of the State of Connecticut, serving as a credentialed provider of the Adult Family Living/Foster Caregiver (AFL) program that pays caregivers a tax-free stipend of over $500 per week who serve as primary in-home caregivers to an elderly individual.

Assisted Living Services maintains its outstanding level of care with dedicated staff members who truly love working with the elderly. Employees undergo a National Criminal Background Check and eVerify check with the DHS to assure that all new hires can legally work in the U.S.

“Our employees are our most valuable asset and we are grateful that they helped us earn Employer of Choice,” says D’Aquila. “Some of our caregivers have been with us for over two decades.”

In appreciation of its staff, the company implemented a monthly $5,000 Platinum Caregiver Award program in 2019 to recognize employees who have exceeded expectations for quality care. During the pandemic, five employees were selected per month to win $1,000. Since inception, these unprecedented programs have awarded a total of $180,000+ to 100+ stellar caregivers.
The Best of Home Care – Leader in Excellence Award highlights the top-performing home care businesses in the nation. Home Care Pulse believes that by honoring these providers, families looking for in-home care for a loved one will be able to recognize and choose a trusted home care provider.

“At Home Care Pulse, our mission is to help home care businesses create an experience that goes beyond client and caregiver expectations,” says President Todd Austin. “Assisted Living Services has worked extremely hard to prioritize high-quality care and employment, and their work hasn’t gone unnoticed. This award allows them to show proof of quality to potential clients and caregivers.”
