Free Transportation for Veterans for Stand Down 2018 Event

Free Transportation for Veterans for Stand Down 2018 Event

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced today that Connecticut military veterans can take advantage of free transportation to and from the Stand Down event on Friday, September 21, 2018 in Rocky Hill. CTDOT is coordinating the free transportation effort through CTtransit and transit districts throughout the state. Five of the CTtransit bus operators that will be providing bus service to the event are also veterans and will attend the event.

Stand Down provides veterans with medical screenings, eye and hearing exams, dental services, and support services such as housing, benefits, employment, education and legal assistance; all at no cost. No pre-registration is required, although veterans are encouraged to bring documentation verifying their military service/veteran status. Stand Down is organized by the Connecticut Department of Veteran’s Affairs. More than one hundred agencies and organizations with close to 230 volunteers are expected to assist over one thousand veterans at the Rocky Hill Campus. The event begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 2:00 p.m.

Veterans may take the free transportation to and from Stand Down 2018 from designated pick-up locations throughout Connecticut. For further Stand Down information and the transportation schedule, veterans are encouraged to visit www.portal.ct.gov/DVA/Pages/Veterans-Stand-Down or call (860) 616-3803.
