Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally.

You're IT Arugula Bistro!

Three questions with Christiane Gehami, owner of Arugula Bistro.

Why did you start your business?

I opened arugula May 1, 1996. We have been serving the center of West Hartford for over twenty years. In 1996 Michael Kask and I had a small 8 seat restaurant that expanded greatly only 2 years later.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”

Work for another 100 years...this is my total passion!

What is your best selling product/service?

We are a bistro...so, our food, wine, alcohol, and hospitality! The menu is comprised of Mediterranean inspired dishes, using Middle Eastern, Northern Italian & French flavors.  Everything is prepared in-house, including desserts.

Arugula Bistro is located at 953 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford. Visit them online here or call (860) 561-4888.
