Harvey Names New Summer Pre-School Program Director

The Harvey School announces the appointment of Alexa Kauffman as director of the Cavalier Camp's Little Cavs summer program.

Kauffman, who started at the camp in 2011 as a group counselor for two years and later became head counselor and assistant director, has a B.A. in Psychology from Drew University, and both an M.A. in Psychology in Education and an Ed.M. in School and Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College at Columbia University. She grew up in Yorktown Heights and graduated from Yorktown High School.

Currently residing in White Plains, Kauffman serves as a school counselor and academic liaison at Mamaroneck High School. As the director of Little Cavs, Kaufman will lead a summer program designed for children entering pre-K through first grade.

Kauffman is excited at the opportunity to assume her new role as program director. “My time working with Little Cavs over the last seven years has been an absolute joy,” Kauffman said. “I look forward to working with parents and their children in my new capacity as program director,” she added.

"Harvey is very happy to have Alexa Kauffman move up and lead our Little Cavs program," said Cavalier Camp Director Vinny Alexander. "Having been a model counselor for four years and an excellent assistant director for the past three years, Alexa has proven herself to be someone who puts the needs of children first and knows full well our summer mission, to provide children with a safe and fun-filled learning environment,” Alexander said.

The Little Cavs program offers the Cavalier Camp’s youngest campers opportunities to explore art, music, theater, movement, gymnastics, outdoor recreation, swimming and nature study, all taught by professionals in their fields of expertise. Weekly specials such as a petting zoo, aerial arts, cooking fun and martial arts are also included. The 2018 session begins July 2 and ends Aug. 10. There is also an option for an abbreviated session. For more information about the program, call 914-232-0581 or visit: www.harveycavaliercamp.org
