The Harvey School announces the appointment of Alexa Kauffman as director of the Cavalier Camp's Little Cavs summer program.
Kauffman, who started at the camp in 2011 as a group counselor for two years and later became head counselor and assistant director, has a B.A. in Psychology from Drew University, and both an M.A. in Psychology in Education and an Ed.M. in School and Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College at Columbia University. She grew up in Yorktown Heights and graduated from Yorktown High School.
Currently residing in White Plains, Kauffman serves as a school counselor and academic liaison at Mamaroneck High School. As the director of Little Cavs, Kaufman will lead a summer program designed for children entering pre-K through first grade.
Kauffman is excited at the opportunity to assume her new role as program director. “My time working with Little Cavs over the last seven years has been an absolute joy,” Kauffman said. “I look forward to working with parents and their children in my new capacity as program director,” she added.
"Harvey is very happy to have Alexa Kauffman move up and lead our Little Cavs program," said Cavalier Camp Director Vinny Alexander. "Having been a model counselor for four years and an excellent assistant director for the past three years, Alexa has proven herself to be someone who puts the needs of children first and knows full well our summer mission, to provide children with a safe and fun-filled learning environment,” Alexander said.
