Harvey Middle School Writing Publication Earns National Recognition

The Harvey Middle School's literary magazine, Equinox, has received a REALM award from the National Council of Teachers for English (NCTE). The competition included entries from high schools and middle schools across the country. The Equinox earned an "Excellent" rating from the NCTE for the art and craft of writing displayed in the publication’s spring 2018 issue.

The spring journal, which included both creative writing and artwork by Harvey Middle Schoolers, was edited by current freshman Joey Jacobson and developed by eighth-grader Brandon Mallon and seventh-graders Alexa Williams, Annissa Khanna and Cole Hamlin. Their faculty adviser is Cris Alexander of Katonah.

The NCTE’s Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) Award acknowledges outstanding secondary school literary magazines produced by students with the support of their teachers.
