John Jay High School has announced National Merit Scholarship Finalists: Shu-Nan Chang, Thomas Feinstein, Ruby Potash, Jacob Tabs, Abigail Wilson, and Fayth Wisehart.
“These students have shown exemplary performance in the classroom and have challenged themselves with our most rigorous course offerings,” said Principal Steven Siciliano. “We and are very proud of them and their achievements.”
The National Merit Scholarship Finalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be offered this spring. In the National Merit® Scholarship Program, three types of Merit Scholarship® awards are offered to Finalists: National Merit $2500 Scholarships, corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards, and college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards. Special Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students who are not Finalists and meet a corporate sponsor's criteria.
National Merit Scholarship winners of 2019 will be announced in four nationwide news releases beginning in April and concluding in July. These scholarship recipients will join some 338,000 other distinguished young people who have earned the Merit Scholar title.
