Lee and Me
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24
6:00 – 8:00 PM
Join writer Ruth Appelhof as she talks about her relationship with American Abstract Expressionist artist Lee Krasner – the subject of Lee and Me, Appelhof's recent personal memoir inspired by the 1974 summer she spent with with Krasner in East Hampton, Long Island.
Appelhof re-examines Krasner's contributions through the lens of first-hand material based on interviews with Krasner and her friends, fellow artists, gallerists and curators. The recollections offer a lens into the artist's personal life as well as into her contributions through the groundbreaking work she produced over the course of more than six decades.

Artist in Conversation
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27
3:00 – 5:00 PM
Artist Rotem Reshef, Christopher Rothko, Stephen Maine and KMA Associate Curator Michele Wije engage in a conversation about Reshef’s artistic approach and the influence artist Helen Frankenthaler and the Abstract Expressionist movement had on her work. Her site-specific installation ARCADIA was inspired by the natural surroundings of the Museum – evident in her use of organic materials to imprint large scrolls of canvas. Reshef's practice is characterized by a 'control and release' technique in which she pours diluted paint on a horizontal canvas, tilting and imprinting on it to create layered gestural compositions.
$20 members, $25 non-members, $15 students. Includes reception.
