Katonah Resident Runs 26.2 Miles Around Katonah to Support Restaurants Impacted by COVID-19

With every step, Greg Szatmari will support the local restaurants our community has come to know and love

Huge shout out to Katonah resident Greg Szatmari who is bringing the London Marathon to Katonah and supporting local restaurants with every step he takes!

According to his Go Fund Me Page, Szatmari was set to run the now-canceled London Marathon on April 26 and will instead run 32 loops around the village on May 3 with a mission of helping those local eateries struggling due to COVID-19 pandemic. He will begin his 26.2 mile journey at 6am on Katonah Ave.

Szatmari says he will run while his friend Rudy Lopez cycles (and observe the proper social distancing rules). "Our mission is to inspire the citizens of our local communities to provide a little comfort to the same neighborhood restaurants who comfort us every day."

The Go Fund Me Page states:

"The recent world pandemic has devastated our local restaurants. This terrible tragedy will pass, but do we really want to arise to a community without eateries? Amazing bistros, such as The Whitlock, The Jay Street Café and The Blue Dolphin are suffering unimaginable financial hardship. The love and respect I have for the marvelous people running these restaurants is incomparable and their unique dishes that have become so dear to my heart: The Whitlock’s caviar tots, The Blue Dolphins homemade pasta, or even a cappuccino at Little Joe’s Café. We have all spent remarkable evenings with family and friends at these incredible restaurants. The human spirit knows no bounds, a truism which inspired me to help these eateries the only way I know how – with a little inspiration."

Pleases learn more and support Greg and our local restaurants by visiting this Go Fund Me Page.

All donations to Run Katonah; Support Katonah will be distributed equally to the following restaurants: The Whitlock, the Jay Street Café, Little Joe’s, the Blue Dolphin, Peppinos and Tengda.
