Lewisboro Supervisor Peter Parsons Declares Local Emergency

Today, August 19, 2021, Supervisor Peter Parsons, with support of the Lewisboro Town Board, has declared a Local Emergency in the Town of Lewisboro Pursuant to New York Executive Law Article 2-B.

This declaration orders that masks shall be worn at all times in indoor spaces accessible to the public with the exception of people seated in Taverns and Restaurants. This current declaration is good for 5 days upon which time it would be renewed. The town may also consider a more permanent local law which would require a notice of public hearing.

We have seen the continued rise of active Covid-19 cases in our town and therefore, the Town of Lewisboro decided that mandating masks in all indoor spaces accessible to the public would be the prudent thing to do to protect our community including the vulnerable and children under 12 who are not yet eligible for a vaccine. In addition to wearing masks, it is important that those who are eligible for vaccinations to please get vaccinated. Vaccinations are our best defense.

Those who attended the presentation provided last night by local resident Dr. Marcy Kelly, heard her say that the virus needs a host in order to survive and spread, masks reduce the ability of the virus to spread.

For those interested, the presentation provided by Dr. Marcy Kelly can be found on the Lewisboro TV channel on Youtube. It is highly recommended to watch the presentation. Here is the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GqEmc91Ln4
