Ridgefield Academy Students Help California High Schoolers Devastated by Wildfires

Ridgefield Academy Outreach Extends West to Paradise High School

Each year, Ridgefield Academy hosts its annual Patriot Pride Night, an evening that celebrates friendly athletic competition between the RA girls and boys basketball teams and the local Ridgefield Basketball Association teams. Athletes compete in front of a large, cheering crowd made up of enthusiastic students, parents, administrators, and friends that are eager to see each player do his or her best. The event exhibits true school spirit and brings the community together in a special way that not only celebrates the partnership with RBA, but raises funds for an important cause each year.

This year, proceeds went to benefit the Varsity Boys' Basketball Team at Paradise High School in Paradise, California, a town that was devastated by the California Wildfires. The incredible story of this team, their team spirit and love of basketball has helped them through some of the most tragic events they will experience in their lives. Through this outreach event, the RA community was able to donate $2,000 to the PHS team to use in the best way that will benefit their needs.

Ridgefield Academy prides itself on its Service Learning program and believes learning to help those in need is an important part of an education. RA students participate in a wide variety of service learning activities and events throughout the school year to better understand how they can make a difference in the world and learn the importance of giving back to others in need.
