Coronavirus Update from Supervisor

We continue to cooperate with our local county, state, federal and global entities.  One thing cooperating very well, at the moment, is our weather.  I was pleased to note the abundance of usage of local hiking trails while I was out today enjoying a hike at the gorgeous Sal J. Prezioso Mountain Lakes Park.

We are using this Covid-19 State of Emergency as an opportunity to tighten our emergency communication strategies, both internally and externally.  Jane Crimmins is functioning as our Public Information Officer and the overarching goal is a consistent message over a variety of platforms.  She’s working hand in hand with Adam Ochs, chair of the Emergency Management Committee and Tony Goncalves, liaison to the Emergency Management Committee.  We’ve established new internal and external modes of communication, but we expect kinks.

We could not be more grateful to staff who have worked over the weekend to pilot new communications strategies.  Mary Hafter, Jennifer Caviola, Dana Mayclim, Chief Dave Alfano, Sargeant Llewellyn and, of course, my Board members.  Volunteers are not to go unnoticed:  Dan Murtha, LVAC Captain, Jeff Peck, Chief of the VFD, Mike Lynch, Chief of the SSFD, and James McManus, Chief of the GBFD.

We are also accessing input from the public via social media, email and phone channels and trying to address concerns through a daily update.

There remain 0 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the TOL.

The Planning Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 17thbegins at 7PM and, as of right now, we are considering options for teleconferencing that will facilitate the discussion between the applicants and Board.

Feedback is welcome but please know we are doing our best at this time to develop policy while improving communications one step at a time.

I hope you and your families continue to be well.

My next SUPERVISOR UPDATE will take place at 6PM tomorrow, Monday, March 16th.
