Town of Lewisboro Updates from Supervisor Peter Parsons

Today is Wednesday, March 18th, 2020.  We are happy to report that there remain 0 confirmed cases of a positive test in Lewisboro.  We have received some self-reports from Town Employees and citizens who have traveled or been exposed to someone who tested positive outside the County, and all report taking all necessary precautions during that time.  We thank those responsible citizens who have self-reported and want to communicate that self-reporting is encouraged and will be kept confidential.

Essentially, if you abide by the following guidelines and are not already ill, we should be able to successfully mitigate the spread of this highly contagious virus if we all play by the rules:

SOCIAL DISTANCING has become a familiar phrase to us all in the last week!  What does it mean?

• No gatherings over 10 people and every individual should stay SIX FEET AWAY FROM EACH OTHER.  Realistically, if you aren’t immediate family, meet outdoors, if at all.  And even then, keep SIX FEET AWAY FROM EACH OTHER.
• You’ll likely be highly aware of any sneeze or cough you elicit.  Make sure to do so into your ELBOW and DON’T PANIC.  Sneezing and coughing is our body’s natural way of getting out debris and it is allergy season so it is to be expected.
• Wash your hands with frequency – 8-10 times a day and keep them away from your face.
• For the love of Lewisboro – if you are in an “at higher risk” category and have family, friends or neighbors offering to do your shopping, please let them.  You deserve it.  If you’re lonely – we’ll figure that out, but for now – stay healthy.
• For more information on the evolving situation you may always call the Coronavirus Hotline: 1 (888) 364-3065.

FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE:

• ACME in Golden’s Bridge is providing “Extra Clean Shopping Hours” each weekday from 7am-9am and open regular hours outside of that.
• Greenway in Cross River is providing “Extra Clean Shopping Hours” each day from 8am-9am.
• Greenwich Produce in Vista is open regular hours 6am-10pm.
• The H.A.R.T. bus continues to run from Ridgefield to Katonah with on planned interruptions.

Please support local businesses as much as possible right now.  Get takeout from a local restaurant. We and they thank you for your support as we navigate this together.

Many people have reached out to us to offer any type of assistance to our Senior Adult population both in our office and on social media.  We greatly appreciate that.  The Seniors are very grateful for everyone stepping up to assist at this time.  To limit exposure to our Seniors we have one staff member delivering Meals on Wheels to them, bringing in supplies and doing welfare checks.   Additional assistance is not needed at this time.  WE HIGHLY ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO REACH OUT TO YOUR NEIGHBORS WHO MIGHT BE IN NEED.

PLANNING BOARD: From chair Janet Andersen re: the pilot ZOOM meeting for the planning board last evening, “I was not sure if it would be a success or a failure, but I'm glad we took the risk. I feel it went pretty well.  In particular, we had about 20 attendees on the call.  Some came via
computer or iPad video, some were computer audio only, and some accessed by phone.  Some members of the public had some disruptive background noises, and we made good use of the ability of the administrator to mute the line.  We were able to record the call.
