Clear the Clutter - Help is on the Way!

BucketListBootcamp – it sounds amazing, doesn’t it? The creation of professional organizer, speaker and author Lisa Lelas, the all-day event on April 2 will take place at Mohegan Sun. Presenters and resources will address everything from organizing, and goal-setting to time-management and personal relationships. Lelas says the motivational event is just the thing to help you re-energize and connect with your authentic self.

Lelas who is a member of the National Speakers Association, and was a past president of its Connecticut chapter says, “A Bucket List no longer implies last ‘fun goals’ to experience before you ‘kick the bucket’… but rather, a strategically planned list of authentic goals you should be experiencing now.”

There will be many opportunities throughout the day for attendees to gain clarity and figure out not only what they want, but how to get beyond obstacles and achieve it. Lelas points out that, “To achieve your goals, you need to act on them. This is about opening up to the universe, writing down your desire and owning it.”

If you can’t make it to Bucket List Boot Camp, there are other opportunities to find your inspiration with Lisa Lelas. A weekly Coffee Chat takes place at The Brownstone House Restaurant, 961 Boston Post Road in Guilford, on Tuesdays from 9-10:15 am.  It’s an excellent opportunity to share ideas. Lelas says, “As many years as I’ve been doing this, I continue to learn new techniques from being with people who share their tips. It’s very motivational, like taking part in a live Pinterest board. People bring before & after photos of their projects. It’s really great to see everyone’s little successes, very inspiring.”

Lisa is a big believer in rewarding yourself for those little successes. “I believe in attainable goals with a timeline, a reward system where you are rewarded often. You know, rewards that you can look forward to. Great if you’re planning a wonderful vacation in 2017, but you need things to look forward to next week, so maybe a reward would be going for a mani/pedi. People need things they can look forward to. So you choose a goal with a 7-day reach. Then when you complete it, you reward yourself. For a crafter or sewer, it might be giving yourself time to meander through a fabric store, with no need or goal of buying anything, just a thing to soothe your senses, help you find happiness.”

In addition to event planning, Lelas is a professional organizer, life coach, speaker and a writer for the Shoreline Times and the hyper-local Neighbors magazine in Madison. Years ago, she worked in New York as a casting director, and has maintained her involvement as an acting and performance coach. She says, “All of my interests are under one umbrella really, organizing, planning, productivity. I do a little of everything, so it works for my schedule. The key to happiness is connecting to your passion.”

Never one to stay in neutral, Lelas has recently begun co-hosting a show with a panel of professional women. Just Sayin' is a fun new local cable TV show about women. Opinionated, thought-provoking and inspiring, it is Connecticut's version of ABC’s, 'The View'! The focus is current events and topics important to women; guests to date have included local authors, news anchor Ann Nyberg, e-list.com creator Erica Tannen, and other influential and inspiring women with ties to Connecticut. Previous shows can be seen online.
