Rep. Kokoruda Receives “Advocate for Youth” Award

HARTFORD – State Representative Noreen Kokoruda was recognized on Friday, October 2, by the Connecticut Youth Service Association (CYSA) for her outstanding support and advocacy on behalf of Youth Service Bureaus during the 2015 legislative session.

The “Advocate for Youth” award is only given to handful of legislatures every two years at CYSA’s annual meeting. President Barbara Lockhart, who also serves Director of the Montville Youth Bureau, cited Rep. Kokoruda’s advocacy for youth services during this session’s particularly difficult budget debate as she presented the award.

“I am proud to be recognized for my efforts advocating for enrichment in our children’s lives,” Kokoruda said. “Together we must strive to establish resourceful programs and opportunities for the young people of Connecticut. Even during difficult economic times, this is a worthy investment. I have seen first-hand the impact of a strong youth bureau in both Madison and Durham.”

Rep. Kokoruda represents the 101st District communities of Durham and Madison
