Giving Tuesday is December 1

On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world are coming together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

Now in its fourth year, #GivingTuesday is bigger and better than ever.

What will you give?

If you want your gratitude to linger locally, consider supporting your local fire department. Especially this time of year when candles, electric lights and decorations near radiators increase potential for devastating loss of life and property, we should offer gratitude toward the men and women who keep us safe – our local firefighters.

Please see the letter written to homeowners in North Madison from the North Madison Volunteer Fire Company, and consider making a donation this year.

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

As many of you may know the North Madison Volunteer Fire Company (NMVFC) was founded in 1925 with the sole mission of “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.” Since its inception, our organization has grown tremendously by providing volunteer professional fire, rescue, and medical services to more than 3,000 families in North Madison. In addition, the organization is active in fire prevention and live demonstrations to help educate the community about fire and emergency safety. Although we remain committed to our core mission and dedicated to serving our community, the reality is that we need you - our neighbors, to help us!

Over the past several years we have sent out numerous requests for donations to help support our department. Although many community members have stepped up and offered their generous support for the NMVFC, each year approximately only 16 percent of the 3,3,00 households in North Madison contribute financially. This year, we are aiming to increase the number of households contributing across the community to help us meet our fundraising goal. With just $50 or MORE donation per household we will be able to afford the maintenance needed on our firehouse to ensure the safety and well-being of our community and first responders. However we can’t do it without you!

When considering your contribution to the NMVFC, we would like you to take into account that all the money you donate goes to supporting a 100% voluntary staff comprised of your friends and neighbors. What this means is that funding is not utilized to pay salaries or benefits for the volunteers. Rather the money donated goes directly back into the community in the form of supporting training for our personnel and ensuring that our facilities are up-to-date. When you donate to the NMVFC you are making a direct investment in your community! Also, donating to the NMVFC has never been easier with our new PayPal feature located on our website at www.nmvfc.org. Just click Donate! Or make checks payable to North Madison Volunteer Fire Company and mail to the address below…

As always, we thank you for your support and consideration and hope that you will join us in our mission to help keep our community safe.

We are there for you 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Please be there for us.

Thank you for your donation!
