Foran High School is has announced plans to rename its baseball field in honor of longtime coach Ken Walker, who died last June. Immediately prior to Foran's varsity baseball game against Jonathan Law on April 10th, the field will be renamed "The Kevin Walker Field". The ceremony will commence at 3:15pm.
Walker's coaching career spanned 37 years, all of them in Milford. In addition to baseball, Walker coached basketball and football, first at Milford High School, then at Jonathan Law, and finally at Foran. Though his first love was always baseball, Walker's 1994 varsity football team at Foran occupies a hallowed place in Milford sports history as the town's first and only state football champion.
Walker will be succeeded as baseball coach by his son, Garret, who served as assistant coach under his father for the last two years. A 2003 graduate of Foran, Garret was coached there by his father before moving on to play baseball at UConn and Central Connecticut State.
