Thomas Fatone, a traffic coordinator with the state Department of Transportation, will be discussing his book, "The Signs of Connecticut" at the Terryville Public Library on Sat., June 14 at 2 p.m.
If you are a true Nutmegger, you have probably seen them in passing. You know those blue signs that have the names of Connecticut's towns on them. Each town has one. The signs can be found on the town green, near the town hall or next to that first congregational church. There are 169 signs, one sign to represent each town in the state. Each of the signs explains the history of the town and its founding fathers. Some even tell an interesting story or two. Over a 13-year-period, he visited each of Connecticut's towns and took pictures of these signs.
Along the way, he met interesting people, he discovered little known facts, and saw things he never knew existed in Connecticut. This is a story about the town signs of Connecticut and the adventures he had while searching for them.
