Boys & Girls Village Chosen as a Charitable Partner by Raymour & Flanigan Furniture Clearance Center in Milford
BGV Children’s Works of Art on Exhibit Through November 15
October 23, 2015 – A celebration of the creative minds of local youth - and support for a great cause – has inspired the recent art exhibit at a local business. The works of art produced by children served by Boys & Girls Village (BGV) will be on display at the Raymour & Flanigan Furniture Clearance Center, 1799 Boston Post Road in Milford. The display will culminate with a reception featuring BGV staff members on Saturday, Nov. 14.
The Art Program has been an integral part of BGV’s regular educational curriculum for many years. Art teacher Justin Shay guided the creation of all children’s artwork, as well as managed the installation of the exhibit. Children ages 5 to 17 produced the art, including colored drawings on paper, collages, and paintings on canvas. “My art class is unique, as the children are given a lot of choice to create and be creative. This carries over to their other educational subjects, and encourages them to develop their own personal touch and style,” shared Shay.
Nationwide, Raymour & Flanigan hosts a wide variety of local events to bring people together and raise awareness of charities and community outreach efforts. Company employees believe in taking care of people and communities where they serve, work and live. As a family-owned business, it lends considerable support through its stores, marketing, and associates to raise awareness and generate revenue for charitable partners like BGV.
