Milford's Bees Knees Makes Breakfast for Medical Team on COVID-19 Unit at Yale-New Haven

In an effort to support the men and women of the frontline as well as Milford's local restaurants, a Go Fund Me campaign was created encouraging people to support Milford restaurants AND medical personnel during this difficult time.

Organized by lifelong Milford resident Matt Glennon, member of Board of Directors of the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce, proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to buy meals from local restaurants for delivery to essential service workers - hospitals, EMS, fire, police, public works, etc. - in Milford and surrounding areas.

Yesterday, Friday, March 27, Milford's Bees Knees team answered the call by putting together frittatas, granola parfaits, and bagels for three COVID-19 units at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

"A special thanks to Nancy Burke and the crew at Bees Knees Cafe Milford, CT for making sure our nurses treating the infected had a filling and nutritious breakfast today," said Glennon.

The Bees Knees team remarked, "It’s important to remember to stay mindful of others working during these stressful times, especially our healthcare workers. Special thank you to Matthew Glennon for coming up with this great idea and letting us be part of it, spread the love and be positive!"

With COVID-19 causing shutdowns across the country, including our local eateries that are now limited to curbside pick up or delivery, Glennon was eager to rally the community together to garner support for both small businesses and our health care workers on the frontlines.  "Milford restaurants that make our city so great and that we all love will be facing tough times. Simultaneously, many workers will be putting their health on the line to treat the sick and ensure our essential services continue to be delivered. Let's come together and kill two birds with one stone - support our local businesses and those keeping us safe," he said.

To date, $7,997 of a $10,000 goal has been raised. Support this fundraiser HERE.
