Make-A-Wish Pre-Schooler Receives Dream Playhouse

Make-A-Wish® Connecticut granted three-year-old Lucy Gargano’s wish to have a playhouse – just in time for summer.

One purple door. That’s all it took to give little Lucy hope for the future. Playing outside and reading Maisy Mouse books are Lucy’s favorite things to do. After months of cancer treatments, this sweet girl longed to frolic outside and curl up with her favorite books. What better wish than to transform the best of Lucy’s favorites into a special playhouse in her own backyard!

During the building process, Lucy’s anticipation grew –- she could even be found peeking in the door, her excitement growing. But nothing compared to the look on her face when she saw her playhouse’s purple door for the first time. Lucy squealed with delight and jumped up and down with joy! After months of feeling powerless, Lucy’s wish gave her a sense of control and a hope for normalcy.

Sometimes it’s the simple things that bring hope for the future. For Lucy, it is the power of her purple door.

Every child deserves a childhood. Wishes like Lucy’s are happening and need YOU now more than ever. Although MAW has had to postpone more than 80 wishes due to the current global health crisis, they are innovating rapidly to grant wishes in new and safe ways across the state -- wishes like room makeovers, pools, shopping sprees, and wishes for playhouses like Lucy’s. Your gift can give hope and joy to a child in your community who needs a wish today.

Please join Make-A-Wish in support of its Summer of Hope campaign. Your gift today will give wish kids, like Lucy, hope so they can look forward to tomorrow ct.wish.org/summerofhope
