Learn About the Consequences of Light Pollution at Milford Library on April 14

The Adverse Consequences of Light Pollution with Leo Smith (in-person!)

Milford, CT – Milford Public Library is hosting a program about the adverse effects of light pollution, and how it can be mitigated, in-person, on Thursday, April 14 at 7:00pm.

Zoom in to learn about how light pollution effects our environment and all the creatures that live in it, including humans. Truly dark skies are becoming a thing of the past. During a 1994 blackout, Los Angeles residents called the police in droves to report a strange band of lights in the sky... This was the first time many residents of L.A. had ever seen the Milky Way!

Since then, new challenges have presented themselves, from daylight-balanced illumination to a growing number of satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). This program will be presented by Leo Smith, former executive director of the International Dark Sky Association (IDSA).
