Special Book Discussions in Milford

Milford Arts Council and Milford Library put our heads together to offer two related events for our community.

On January 8 (snow date January 10) at 7pm, Milford Library is hosting a book discussion about the book The Radium Girl by Kate Moore. Copies are available in advance from the library – check at the Reference Desk. The Radium Girls were female factory workers who contracted radiation poisoning from painting watch dials with self-luminous paint. Painting was done by women at three different sites in the United States, including Waterbury, CT, early in the 20th century.

Milford Arts performs These Shining Lives, a play based on the book, February 1 – 17.

At the January book discussion, members of the cast will be performing a scene from the play. Plus, those who attend the book discussion will get a discount on a ticket to the play on opening weekend. If that’s not enough, there will be a cast talk-back after the performances on Friday and Sunday afternoon!
