SVMC's Women at Heart to Support Underinsured Women

BRIDGEPORT, CT – St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation will hold its annual Women at Heart Fashion Show & Auction fundraiser on April 24 hosted by Mitchells, 670 Post Road East, Westport, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The evening will be emceed by TV personality Dave Price of WNBC New York with proceeds from the event benefitting the St. Vincent’s Regina L. Cozza Women at Heart program, which provides underserved women with much needed cardiac screenings, such as blood pressure and cholesterol testing, as well as heart health education.

Guests will get a sneak peek into the latest spring trends with a fashion show for women and men by Mitchells, while enjoying cocktails with Tito’s Handmade Vodka and gourmet hors d’oeuvres. The event also will feature a special auction including items such as a date for six in Brian Cashman’s personal box at Yankee Stadium, a diamond necklace, a shopping experience at Mitchells, restaurant gift certificates, and much more.

“The event is designed to encourage women to be proactive and to foster active, heart-healthy lifestyles,” explained cardiologist and co-chair of the event Dr. Anja Wagner. Proceeds from the evening will support St. Vincent’s efforts to provide resources to women in Bridgeport and neighboring communities needing life-saving cardiac screenings, education, diagnosis, and treatment. 

Laura Flavell of Trumbull, director of physician services at the hospital, is also a co-chair.  The committee is comprised of over two dozen business and community leaders.  Flavell has organized the models who are all former heart disease patients who will be escorted by their cardiologist including Jeffrey Berman, MD, Venu Channamsetty, MD, Robert Jumper, MD, Kevin Lenhart, MD, Suhash Patel, MD, Manny Pun, MD, Alon Ronen, MD and Anja Wagner, MD.

St. Vincent’s Women at Heart at the Regina L. Cozza Center is a free cardiovascular program created exclusively for women of all ages designed to provide a holistic, woman-specific program of education and prevention. Through the use of leading- edge technology, 
St. Vincent's Regional Heart & Vascular Center can help with early detection, diagnosis and proper treatment of heart disease in women.
