Milford BLM Book Discussion Series

Milford BLM Book Discussion Series

On September 8, 2020, members of Milford’s Boards of Aldermen and Education engaged in a conversation in support of the “Justice and Equality Resolution” passed by the Aldermen this summer. One of the goals, taken directly from the Resolution, was to “build alliances with those committed to justice for all and to work together to support our shared conviction that racism must end.”

The conversation was moderated by Dr. Leon Bailey, Senior Vice President for Human Resources and Organizational Culture at the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and chaired by Alders Connie Gaynor and Frank Smith. It focused on Carol Anderson’s book, White Rage, that details the history of systemic racism in America. The hope was that the meeting would inspire meaningful and honest conversations about racial injustice in the small city with a big heart.

The community is invited to participate in the next meeting of the series on October 13, 2020 at 7:00pm. The conversation again will focus on Chapter 1 of White Rage.

For now, all the conversations will be held via Zoom and registration is required.
