Save the Date for the Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth - August 27!

On Saturday, August 27th, The Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth will kick off at 12:01am throughout Long Island Sound. With the increasing popularity of fishing, the Tournament is excited to return for its 40th year!

The Tournament offers anglers up to $40,000 in cash prizes. The grand prize of $25,000 goes to the heaviest bluefish, 2nd place takes home $7,500 and 3rd place gets $2,500. In addition, there are cash prizes for 4th through 20th place. New for this year is a $1,000 cash Prize for the biggest fish caught by an angler under 18. The Tournament also offers a ‘port prize’ for the heaviest fish caught at each participating weigh-in station in Connecticut and New York. 

Tournament Director Steve Soyland said, “The popularity of this tournament continues to grow, so we are thrilled to confirm the date and get fishing!” He continued, “I am excited to bring this major tournament back to Long Island Sound for the 40th year and I look forward to paying out some money this summer!”  

Registration is $36 and opens on July 2nd. Anglers can register by calling 203-366-BLUE or apply in person at any one of the registration stations around the sound in CT and NY. Registration is also offered online and includes a unique 2022 Greatest Bluefish Tournament t-shirt, which many anglers collect over the years.

Branford Bait and Tackle, Dee’s Bait & Tackle New Haven, Fisherman’s Paradise Milford, Fisherman’s World East Norwalk, J&B Niantic, Sportman’s Den Cos Cob, and Ted’s Bait & Tackle Old Saybrook.  NEW YORK-- Blue Water Ventures Peconic, Cow Harbor Bait & Tackle Northport, Duffy’s Bait & Tackle Glenwood Landing, East Coast Fishing Supplies Little Neck, Harbour Bait & Tackle Huntington, Jack’s Bait & Tackle City Island,  Miller Place Bait & Tackle Miller Place and Warren’s Tackle Center Aquebogue.

The fishing tournament is open to all and kids are encouraged to fish as well! 

WICC600am broadcasts hourly updated results all weekend long. The most up to date information can also be found at bluefishtournament.com or facebook.com/bluefishtournament.

Deadline to register for the Tournament is Friday, August 26th at 11:59pm. Registration is required to participate. The Tournament begins Saturday, August 27th at 12:01am and ends Sunday, August 28th at 5pm. The first-place winner will be interviewed live on WICC600, and all winners are announced immediately after the Tournament.
