Shamrock & Roll New Haven Race Expects 1,500 Runners

New Haven, CT – The annual 99.1 PLR CrossPoint Federal Credit Union Shamrock & Roll is back this Sunday for the annual 5K! The event expects to collect over 50,000 diapers for The Diaper Bank from the race, participants, and sponsors. With nearly 1,300 runners already registered, event organizers expect to have nearly 1,500 runners. The race begins at 9 a.m. from Toad’s Place on York Street in New Haven. The ShamRock & Roll will once again host the USATF-CT 5K State Championships and is one of the largest winter road races held in Connecticut.

Participants are encouraged to run or walk the 5K in St. Patrick’s Day costumes! Custom pint glasses for best group and individual costumes are distributed. Pint glasses are also awarded to the fastest male and female finishers. Runners, walkers and spectators can enjoy rock music played at Toad's Place and along the 5K course. One Heineken Silver beer is offered to participants 21+! The first 1,300 participants receive long sleeve tech tees. Participants can enjoy a rockin’ post-race party at Toad’s Place, complete with live entertainment, great food and refreshments courtesy of 99.1 PLR and Toad’s Place. Early packet pick-up is available, hosted by Woodbridge Running Company on Friday, March 3 from 11a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday, March 4 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The race benefits The Diaper Bank. New this year, Lynch, Traub, Keefe & Errante (LTKE) has committed to match the first 50,000 diapers donated to the race.  In total, the race hopes to donate 100,000 diapers to The Diaper Bank.  “The Diaper Bank is a great organization,” said Steve Errante of LTKE. “We are honored to help out a worthy cause and come together with our New Haven neighbors for a fun race.” Participants are encouraged to bring diapers to the event. In addition, the participant who donates the most diapers receives the Sam Tilery Award. The race honors Sam Tilery, who was a long-time promotional director at 99.1 PLR and supporter of The Diaper Bank.

John Bysiewicz, coordinator of the Faxon Law New Haven & Fairfield Road Races, organizes the event. After a life-threatening crash and nearly 100 days away from home, Bysiewicz is looking forward to attending a race in-person for the first time since November 12, 2022.

The event is sponsored by 99.1 PLR, CrossPoint Federal Credit Union, Lynch, Traub, Keefe & Errante, presented by Chevrolet of Milford and QC Kinetix, Heineken Silver. For race information about the event, visit www.jbsports.comor call (203) 481- 5933.
