Milford City Hall to Raise Pride Flag with Milford Pride in Celebration of the LGBTQ+ Community

Milford, CT June 9, 2023  - Milford City Hall, located at 110 River Street, will proudly hoist the Pride flag on June 12th at 10:30 am to commemorate the rich diversity and inclusivity of the LGBTQ+ community.

Mayor Smith will be joined by esteemed members of Milford Pride, as well as representatives from the extended LGBTQ+ community, and members of the greater Milford community in a momentous event that highlights the city's commitment to equality and acceptance.

The raising of the Pride flag at Milford City Hall serves as a powerful symbol of unity, celebrating the strides made in advancing LGBTQ+ rights while recognizing the ongoing work needed to ensure equal opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. This event embodies the spirit of unity, inclusiveness, and respect that Milford prides itself on.

Kara DeLeonardis Kraus, Milford Pride organizer, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming flag-raising ceremony, stating, "I am honored to participate in this significant event with Mayor Smith, demonstrating our unwavering support for the LGBTQ+ community. Milford Pride, LLC was founded in 2018 with the mission of bringing together the Greater Milford LGBTQ+ community. We believe in the powers of community and representation to support our LGBTQ+ siblings. We also believe that Milford, CT is a beautiful place to live, full of vibrant people with amazing stories to tell. Through our efforts of planning events and community building, we strive to foster new connections and opportunities.

Members of the extended LGBTQ+ community and the greater Milford community are encouraged to attend the event and stand together in solidarity. The ceremony promises to be an inspiring occasion, featuring remarks from community leaders, testimonials from individuals with lived experiences, and a vibrant display of pride and support.
